My name is Rebekah and I am a recent graduate of the Limerick School of Art and Design with an Professional Master of Education in Art and Design with Digital Media. Previous to this I graduated of the Limerick School of Art and Design where I specialised in printmaking. As an artist my creative work includes drawing, printmaking, painting and digital art. For me observational work continues to be an essential aspect to my practice. I strive to develop a deeper consciousness and awareness to the world around me. As an artist my subject matter is very important to me, as is research. Good research skills allow me to keep the subject material relatable to modern society and allowing the students to interact and engage with the concepts, while keeping them motivated. It was my passion for knowledge that I then went on to broaden my education in Trinity College, Dublin where I undertook a Diploma in European Painting and graduated with a 2.2. Due to my love of art history and European art being a huge part of the Leaving Certificate syllabus, I felt it was a course that would improve my knowledge and ability to teach art history. In addition to this, I have a keen interest in the Art Market and it’s developments. After developing a critical and practical understanding of the Art World through my MA in Art Business with Sotheby’s, London, I now have an acute awareness of the challenges facing the Art World. This awareness has greatly influenced my artistic process as I feel it is important to remain current and up-to-date.
